Wood Tents


  Use cheap pine and spray paint to give an authentic, rich look to wooden tents for you kids!

What you need:

  • (1) can Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Coral Isle spray paint
  • (1) can Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Sadle Tan spray paint
  • (1) can Krylon Brushed Metallic spray paint.
  • 2x2 lengths of cheap pine (about 4 for 2 tents)
  • Various hardware (nuts, bolts, screws)
  • Staple gun
  • Staples

How and How Long:

  1. Piece together two triangles from the pine, then connect them on the bottom in a large rectangle that will fit over a twin mattress.
  2. Secure pine triangles with nuts, bolts and screws.
  3. Spray paint a base coat of Coral Isle, then a coat of Sadle Tan and rub lightly with your hands to show off a bit of the wood grain. Allow time to dry.
  4. Add highlights of Brushed Metallic spray paint very lightly to give texture. Focus spray paint near hardware for a richer look.
  5. Attach fabric with staplegun if desired.
Approximate project time: 2 hours.
