Switch Plate Covers


  Take any room up a notch by updating your old switch plate covers. Give the room that finishing touch by painting them a classic white or any complementary color. Krylon Fusion makes it easy to paint plastic with no priming or sanding needed.

What you need:

  • 1 can Krylon Fusion for Plastic in desired color
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Old newspaper or drop cloth
  • Ammonia-based cleaner
  • Medium grit sandpaper
  • Tack cloth

How and How Long:

  1. Turn off electricity to any outlets where you will be removing the covers.
  2. Using a screwdriver, remove switch plate cover from the wall and place on work area covered with a drop cloth or newspaper.
  3. Wipe surface clean using an ammonia-based cleaner.
  4. Following instructions on the can hold the can 8 to 10 inches from the surface, spray in a side-to-side sweeping motion, starting off of the surface and finishing off of the other side. Apply several thin coats to avoid runs and drips. Let dry completely. Fusion dries in 15 minutes or less and can be handled in about 1 hour. Fusion must cure a full 7 days to become fully chip and scratch resistant.
  5. When dry, reattach switch plate cover.
  6. Turn on electricity to switches and outlets.
