Kitchen Cabinets


  The kitchen can make or break the sale of a home. Give buyers a great first impression with kitchen cabinets that look brand new.

What you need:

  • Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Primer in a color close to your topcoat color
  • Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Paint
  • Screwdriver
  • Newspaper or drop cloth
  • Mild detergent
  • Medium grit sandpaper
  • Lint-free rag

How and How Long:

  1. Remove cabinet doors and drawers from hinges and frames.
  2. Remove hardware, including knobs, pulls and hinges from cabinet doors and drawers.
  3. Cover and mask off any areas you do not want to paint to protect from overspray.
  4. If possible, take doors and drawers outside or to a well-ventilated area to paint. (Note: Also cover your work surface here to protect from overspray)
  5. All pieces to be painted should be clean, dull and dry.
  6. Make sure room is well ventilated by opening windows or doors.
  7. Following the instructions on the can, apply the primer first using several light coats versus one heavy coat. If paint is applied too heavily, it may run or drip. If this happens, sand smooth and reapply primer. Let dry.
  8. Following the instructions on the can, apply several light coats of Indoor/Outdoor paint.
  9. Let cabinets dry completely before reinstalling doors, drawers and hardware.

Approximate project time: 4-5 hours.
