How and How Long:
- Turn off power to the fixture to prevent risk of electrical shock. Remove light fixture from wall.
- Cover your work surface with old newspaper or a drop cloth to protect it from overspray.
- Disassemble fixture, removing bulbs, glass globes, plastic pieces and remove or mask off any additional fixture parts that do not require painting.
- Clean all pieces to be painted thoroughly, so they are free of grease, film, dust, and lint.
- Lightly sand any glossy or rough spots and remove dust with the tack cloth or lint free rag.
- Following the instructions on the can, apply the primer first. Use short sweeping strokes to prevent overspray. Apply several light coats versus one heavy coat. If paint is applied too heavily, it might puddle or run; if this happens, sand smooth and reapply primer. Let dry.
- Following the instructions on the can, apply several light coats of Krylon Brushed Metallic. Let dry.
- After paint is completely dry, remove all masking, reassemble fixture and reconnect.
- Turn power on.
Approximate project time: 1.5 - 2 hours.
