DIY Mercury Glass

I used Krylon Looking Glass spray paint to transform some clear vases I had laying around to look like mercury glass. The process was so simple and quick!

What you need:

  • (1) can of Krylon Looking Glass spray paint
  • (1) spray bottle filled with water
  • Clear vase, votive or whatever you want to give the mercury glass look!

How and How Long:

  1. Spray the inside of your object (vase, etc.) with water. The idea is to give it a light mist, not to drown it! You should be able to see the water beads on the object.
  2. Using light and even strokes, spray the inside of the object with Krylon Looking Glass spray paint. One coat should do the trick, but you might want to give one more light coat to your object.
  3. Turn object upside down on a cooling rack or other breathable surface to dry overnight.
  4. Come back the next morning and enjoy your DIY mercury glass!
Approximate project time: 1 day (including dry time).

What it Costs:

Cost is about $12 (for one can of Krylon Looking Glass spray paint, I already had vase).
