Oil Rubbed Bronze Chair

A simple makeover of a vintage vanity chair.

What you need:

  • (1) can Krylon General Purpose Copper Metallic
  • (1) can Krylon Oil Rubbed Bronze Brushed Metallic
  • Covered work surface
  • Metal chair
  • Screwdriver
  • Sanding Bug from Rockler
  • Paint Spray Respirator from Rockler
  • Painter's tape

How and How Long:

  1. I placed the chair on the covered surface and used the screwdriver to remove the seat.
  2. I lightly sanded the entire surface with the Sanding Bug.
  3. The plastic protectors on the feet were not easily removable, so I taped them off with painter's tape.
  4. I put on my paint spray respirator from Rockler.
  5. I put on a solid coat of the copper metallic paint from Krylon. I added a light layer of oil rubbed bronze metallic spray paint from Krylon, allowing the copper paint to show through. After the paint was dry, I replaced the seat using the screwdriver and placed it in its new home.
Approximate project time: 3 hours.

What it Costs:

Cost is $12 for two cans of spray paint.
