What you need:

  • (1) can Krylon White Indoor/Outdoor Primer spray paint
  • (1) can Krylon Gloss White Indoor/Outdoor spray paint
  • (1) can Krylon Banner Red Indoor/Outdoor spray paint
  • Terra Cotta Pots in various sizes: (3) 6" pots, (4) 4" pots, (3) 2" pots
  • (1) 8" Terra Cotta Tray
  • Various red and white candies
  • (3) lollipops (or lollipop ornaments - we just removed the ornament hanger on top)
  • Faux snow Tissue paper (optional - for lining pots when unwrapped candy is used)
  • Christmas candy garland
  • Glue suitable for terra cotta
  • 1" Painters masking tape
  • Round stickers for dots
  • Newspaper or drop cloth
  • StyrofoamΠbrand foam

How and How Long:

  1. Cover work surface with newspaper or drop cloth to protect against overspray. Prime terra cotta pots and both sides of tray with White Primer. Let dry.
  2. Paint the following terra cotta items Gloss White: (3) of the 4" pots, (2) of the 6" pots (paint one completely and just the top rim of the other)and (3) of the 2" pots (paint the main part of two and just the top rim of the other), tray (inside of tray only). Let dry completely.
  3. Paint the remaining terra cotta pots (a 6" pot and a 4" pot) Banner Red: Let dry completely.
  4. Vertical Striped Stacked Pots: Take two of the 4" pots that were already painted Gloss White. Using masking tape, apply stripes vertically on pots, evenly spacing around the pot. Make sure all edges are firmly adhered. Paint unmasked areas with Banner Red. Let dry. Carefully remove masking tape. Glue bottoms of pots together to resemble those in photo. Let dry.
  5. Polka Dot Pots: Take one 4" pot already painted Gloss White and one 6" pot already painted Banner Red. Apply round stickers randomly over the pots. Make sure all edges are firmly adhered. Paint 4" pot with Banner Red and 6" pot with Gloss White (this may take several coats to cover). Let dry. Carefully remove round stickers.
  6. Two Tone Pots: Take three 2" pots and one 6" pot. Mask off the areas that were already painted white (the rim of the 6" pot, the rim of one 2" pot and the base of two 2" pots). Make sure all edges are firmly adhered. Paint unmasked areas with Banner Red. Let dry. Carefully remove masking tape.
  7. Party Server Tray: Take tray that was already painted Gloss White inside and mask off the inside. Make sure all edges are firmly adhered. Paint the outside unmasked area with Banner Red. Let dry. Carefully remove masking tape. Turn one 6" pot that was already painted Banner Red upside down and glue tray on top.
  8. Finishing: Arrange pots as shown in photo. Put Styrofoam inside 2" pots and push lollipops firmly into the Styrofoam. Sprinkle faux snow on top to cover Styrofoam and around the 2" pots to cover inside of tray. Fill other containers with candy. Use tissue paper as a liner for unwrapped candies to prevent any contact with painted surfaces. Drape Christmas candy garland through your display.

Approximate project time: 2 hours.
